Bangladesh and India have agreed to make two documentaries on Life of Bangabandhu and War of Liberation coinciding with his birth centenary and golden jubilee of the nation’s 1971 independence, information minister Hasanul Haq Inu said yesterday, reports BSS from New Delhi.
“The two countries will jointly prepare a documentary on our Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujinbur Rahman coinciding with his birth centenary 2020,” Inu told a joint media briefing at New Delhi along with his Indian counterpart Venkaiah Naidu.
The other documentary under the joint initiative, he said, would be made to mark the golden jubilee of Bangladesh’s independence from Pakistan following a nine-month long Liberation War with crucial Indian support.
Naidu, on the other hand said, Indian President Pranab Mukherjee was expected to open a new radio channel called “Akashbani Moitree” targeting its audience in Bangladesh and India’s West Bengal, Assam and Bihar states.
Bangladesh’s information ministry in statement, meanwhile, said the two countries also agreed to join hands in waging a war against militancy and communalism ensuring free flow of information.
“The information ministries of the two countries will work jointly to stop distortion of history, falsehood and vested propaganda to uproot militancy and defuse the bomb of communalism,” the statement read.
