Top-order batsman Shahriar Nafees said that they are focusing on to improve their fitness so that they could perform for the longer period being fit.
“Last three years I was out of the national team. It has progressed a lot within this time. Now we’re looking to go for the next phase,” said Shahriar Nafees.
“We have a tight schedule in the next seven months. For this, we have needed the basic fitness. We will gradually go into the skills training. And then, we will go for match practice, batting, bowling and fielding so we could play cricket for the longer period with fit and showcase our better performance,” Nafees told media. “The camp was more competitive. We all worked hard last one and half-a-month. All we are fit and sound. The fitness of all the players has been developed. We will go for the skill’s training,” he added.
In comparison, Bangladesh achieved less success in Test rather than one day and T20. After getting Test status in 2000, the team played so far 93 Tests, in where they won just on match and made draws in five.
In this regard, the left-handed batsman said that they have set their ultimate target to do well in Test.
“In case of winning in Test match, the fielding is very important along with other dept. It is our ultimate target is to do fare well in Test. We’ve already created a place in one day and T20,” he said, adding “If we want to win in Test, we have to do better in fielding, batting and bowling throughout the five days. Along with that we have to stay fit. That’s our ultimate target and we are working with that target.”
