BCB set to take legal action against Kalpage

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) will soon take the necessary legal action against the national assistant coach Ruwan Kalpage after being failed to meet the deadline set by the board.
BCB issued a notice asking Kalpage to join the ongoing preparation camp with the other coaching staffs by August 16. If he fails to do so the board will then take their final decision as per the agreement.
In this regard, BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury said that they will take action as per the contract as he didn’t join before the end of the deadline.
“The bulk of the coaching staffs of the Bangladesh Cricket team have already joined with the team’s ongoing preparation camp. But the assistant coach Ruwan Kalpage, who used to see the spin side of the team, didn’t arrive in Dhaka,” said Nizamuddin Chowdhury yesterday.
“He wanted some times from us and that we gave him  a timeline to join the team. But that deadline had also been ended on August 16. Now we will take our action as per our contract,” Chowdhury told reporters.
Bangladesh team’s foreign coaching staffs expressed their concerns to the board with their security after the terror attacks in Gulshan and Sholakia in July.
Taking their concern seriously, the BCB stepped up the security arrangement around the stadium. Along with that, they recruited armed gunman and personal bodyguards for the safety of the foreign coaches.
After being satisfied with the board’s security arrangement, Bangladesh fielding coach Richard Halsall and strength and conditioning coach Mario Villavarayen arrived in Dhaka from their respective country to join with the team’s ongoing training camp.
Head coach Chandika Hathurusingha followed them. But Chandika’s compatriot Kalpage showed dissatisfaction with BCB’s arrangement.
The reason behind Kalpage’s delay was that he demanded a change in his payment contract with the board, said some BCB officials.
