4 ‘JMB women’ remanded

A Dhaka court yesterday placed the four suspected female JMB members on five-day remand each in a case filed under the anti-terrorism act with Mirpur Model Police Station.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Pranab Kumar Hui passed the order after Mirpur model police had produced the four -- Aklima Rahman, Oisshi, Mou and Meghna -- before the court and sought seven-day remand for each of them.
RAB arrested theme from different parts of the capital and Gazipur on August 15 for their suspected involvement with the banned military outfit. Oisshi is an intern at Dhaka Medical College Hospital while the other three are students of Manarat University.
RAB officials said JMB’s south regional commander Mahmudul Hasan, who was arrested in Gazipur on July 21, had spilled the beans on the four women.
Meanwhile, the Manarat University authorities yesterday suspended their three students arrested over their alleged militant link.
Meanwhile, commanding officer of RAB-4 Khandaker Lutful Kabir yesterday said the arrestees have disclosed the names of some of their female associates.
The names include Tasnuva alias Tahira, Saila alias Shahida, Saleha alias Putul, Dinat Jahan alias Nowmi alias Bani, Tanzila alias Munni, Alia alias Tinni, Monira Jahan alias Mili, Sabiha alias Mitu and Safia alias Sanjida alias Jinuk, Maimona alias and Mahmuda alias Laila.
We have included these names and some other unnamed suspects in a case field over the arrest of the four, the RAB official added.
He, however, said these name might be their organisational names.  Replying to another question, Kabir, also an Additional Inspector General of police, said RAB has applied to the home ministry to be the investigating agency for the case.
