Karupannya Rangpur Ltd has extended its technical support for developed process of retting and extracting fibre of jute in Rangpur.
The company is giving practical training to the cultivators of jute so that they can ret and extract jute fibre using the machine. The name of the machine is Jute Fiber Extracting Machine.
Karupannya Rangpur Ltd inaugurated the developed process of retting and extracting fibre of jute at Shahbazpur village adjacent of Rangpur City Corporation.
Siddhatha Lahari, general manager of Karupannya Rangpur Ltd, told the Independent that if the cultivators ret, extract and dry jute using old process, the processing cost of one kilogram of jute is Tk 21 where as if they use modern process cost of one kilogram jute is Tk 7 only. Shah Alam, a jute cultivator of Chandanpath village, said they had lost interest in jute cultivation but new technology had developed new interest in jute cultivation among the farmers.
Alamgir Chowdhury, an agriculturist of Practical Action, Bangladesh, said the colour of jute fibre is blackish if traditional method is used, but the colour becomes white and golden if new machine is used for processing of jute fibre.
Mahabub Rahaman, public relations advisor, Karupannya Rangpur Ltd, said the cultivators who use this machine for retting and extracting jute, Karupannaya purchase their jute with attractive price.
Mahaboob said the jute cultivators will get a chance to use the jute fibre extracting machine for one year from the organisation.
He said after one year jute cultivator would be able to purchase the machine from Karupannya Rangpur Ltd which would cost around
Tk 4 lakh.
