BAU to celebrate 56th anniversary today
MYMENSINGH: Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) is going to celebrate its 56th anniversary today.
The university started its mission in 1961 with two faculties, namely Faculty of Veterinary Science and Faculty of Agriculture. Now it has six faculties.
BAU has a long history of contribution in producing national and international level scientists to enrich agri-sector providing facilities for higher agricultural education and research. Some 6075 students and 11 overseas students are studying in six faculties of the university. There are thirteen student dormitories including four for the female students. BAU is the principal supplier of skilled human resource for modernizing the national agriculture since its establishment in 1961.
Discussion on Natl Mourning Day held at NSU
North South University (NSU) organised a discussion at the university auditorium on Tuesday to mark the National Mourning Day 2016, says a press release.
Cultural Minister Asaduzzaman Noor was the chief guest in the discussion. Professor Shamsuzzaman Khan, director general, Bangla Academy, was the keynote speaker.
NSU family chalked out a three-day programme to mark the Day from August 14 to 16 on NSU premises remembering the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
A portion of students from freedom fighter ward of NSU who are receiving full and partial scholarships were present along with their families.
Dhaka Commerce College holds discussion
Dhaka Commerce College organised a discussion at Professor Kazi Nurul Islam Faruky auditorium yesterday marking the 41st death anniversary of the father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, says a press release.
Renowned poet, writer, and researcher and Awami League Presidium member Dr Nuh-ul-Alam Lenin was present in the discussion as chief guest. The programme was presided over by Prof Shafiq Ahmed Siddique, chairman of the Governing Body of Dhaka Commerce College.
Member of the Governing Body Prof Mian Lutfar Rahman, Principal Prof Md Abu Syed, Vice Principal (Admin) Prof Md Shofiqul Islam, and Associate Professor and Convenor of the Cocurricular Activities and Cultural Committee of Dhaka Commerce College Md Saidur Rahman Mian attended the programme, among others. All the teachers, staff, and students of the college spontaneously attended the meeting.
