A court here yesterday sentenced a man to ten years imprisonment for killing his younger brother in Gazipur in 2014.
The judge of Gazipur district and session judge court AKM Enamul Haque handed down the verdict yesterday. The court also slapped the convict with Tk 5000. The convict is Abul Kalam Azad alias Kalo, 27, son of Edris Miah of Mirashpara area of Tongi in Gazipur city.
According to the prosecution, Abul Kalam locked into an altercation with his younger brother Malo Miah over a trifling matter during taking meals on September 18 in 2014.
At one stage, he attacked Malo with a sharp weapon. Malo was sent to Crescent Hospital in Dhaka where on duty doctor declared him dead. Deceased wife Mitu filed a case against Abul Kalam with Tongi police station in this connection on September 19, a day after the incident.
The investigation officer and sub-inspector of Tongi police station Alamgir Hossain submitted the charge-sheet on July 16 in 2015.
After examining the records and witnesses, the court handed down the verdict on Wednesday.
