Bangladesh Chattra League (BCL) of Jahangirnagar University (JU) unit brought a procession on the campus yesterday demanding immediate punishment of perpetrators involved in countrywide series bomb attacks on August 17, in 2005.
The procession, led by JU unit BCL president Mahmudur Rahman Joni and Secretary Rajib Ahmed Rasel, was brought out with black flag from JU transport yard around 11.30 am yesterday marking the 11th anniversary of the countrywide series bomb attacks carried out by Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) in 2005. Later, a rally was held in diary gate area of the campus.
Speakers at the rally claimed that on August 17, 2005, the series bombing was conducted at the behest of BNP-Jammat alliance government, is an ignominious chapter for the nation.
They urged the government immediate exemplary punishment to the perpetrators involved in series bomb attacks over the country. Around 300 leaders and activists of different dormitories and faculties took part in the procession.
JU BCL vice president Ariful Islam Arif, Shouvoshish Kundu Toni, Al Amin Shetu, Joined Secretary Mithun Kundu, organizational secretary Morshedur Rahman Akhanda, law affair secretary Abu Sufian Chanchal, cultural secretary Abdul Kayum Bipul, Shaheed Rafiq Jabber hall president Nowshad Alam Anik, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman hall secretary Saiful Islam Limon, Jahanara Imam hall president Ajrin Fatema were present among others.
