Eight lighter vessels fined

A mobile court of Chittagong Port Authority (CPA) yesterday (Wednesday) fined eight lighter vessels Tk1.30 lakh for different grounds and realised arrears from two vessels Tk1.34 lakh.

CPA executive magistrate Rokeya Parvin conducted the mobile court from morning to 3pm and fined the vessels for blocking the port channel, not keeping safety appliances, overloading, not keeping certificates by the masters and drivers of the vessels.
The errant vessels were MV Shafatul Haque-2, MV Al Alvi, MV Maria Tasnim-1, MV Al Ittehaz-1, MV Nafis-2, MV Ifti, MV Rupali Saikat, and MV OT Karim-6.
