Khaleda likely to take opinions about the party’s new committees

BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia has conveyed the party standing committee meeting to discuss the latest development in the political arena and organisational matters.

The meeting will be held at 8:30 pm today at the BNP chairperson’s Gulshan office, said BNP chairperson’s media officer Shairul Kabir Khan.
He said the chairperson will also hold a meeting with leaders of BNP-led 20-party alliance on Saturday evening at the same venue. This will be her first meeting with party policymakers after the announcement of new central committees that created discontent among some leaders who did not get their desire posts. 
UNB adds: On August 6, BNP announced its full-fledged executive and standing committees, nearly four and a half months after its national council held on March 19.
Mirza Fakhrul, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury and Salahuddin Ahmed, now facing trial in India, got entry to the 19-member standing committee. 
During the meeting with party standing committee members, BNP insiders said Khaleda is likely to take their opinions about the party’s new committees, and suggestions to remove the grievances of ‘deprived’ leaders. She may also discuss with both the BNP standing committee members and 20-party leaders about her party’s initiative to forge a national unity and work out protest programmes against the construction of Rampal Power Plant near the Sundarbans, government’s move to hike in gas tariffs and militancy issue.
