‘Militants blackening image of Islam’

Land Minister Shamsur Rahman Sherif yesterday said the militants have been blackening the image of Islam by killing people in the name of almighty Allah, reports BSS. “Bangalees are united against their evil acts. All should remain alert so that none could indulge in terrorism in the name of Islam,” he said. He said this while addressing a discussion arranged at the conference room of the land ministry marking the National Mourning Day and 41st martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Sherif said, “As the enemies of democracy, the so-called militant outfits want to transform Bangladesh into a failed state through their acts of terror. The anti-liberation forces want to make Bangladesh a troubled state like Afghanistan, Syria and Iraq by unleashing terror acts with the assistance of militant organisations like Hizbut Tahrir and Harkatul Zihad.” The minister said it would never be possible to transform Bangladesh into such war-torn state as people of the country would resist together their evil design.
With land secretary Mesbah Ul Alam in the chair, it was addressed, among others, by state minister for land Saifuzzaman Chowdhury, chairman of the Land Reforms Board Mahfuzur Rahman, chairman of Land Appeal Board Dr Mujibur Rahman, director general of Land Record and Survey Directorate Sheikh Abdul Ahad, additional secretary of Land Ministry Akram Hossain, member of Land Appeal Board Dr Kabir M Ashraf Alam and joint secretary of Land Ministry freedom fighter AUSM Saifullah.
