Man to die for killing youth

CHANDPUR: A court yesterday sentenced a man to death for killing a youth in Faridganj upazila of the district in 2012.
The court also fined him Taka one lakh. Additional District and Sessions Judge M Mamunur Rashid pronounced the verdict.
According to court officials the convict M Arif Miji, 28, son of Rejaul Karim, is a resident of Aitpara area of the upazila.
According to the prosecution, Arif killed Sahadat Hossain Raju, 19, at Aitpara village on August 24, 2012.
After the incident, victim’s father Billal Hossain filed a murder case with Faridganj police station.
Sub-inspector Mamunur Rashid, also investigation officer of the case, after investigation submitted chargesheet to the court on September 30, 2012.
Later, the judge after examining 14 witnesses and relevant evidences announced the verdict.
