DU team champion in global case contest 
A team of Dhaka University has been awarded the championship award (Don Dewar award) in global case competition named 'International Convention on Student Quality Control Circle' (ICSQCC), says a press release.
The convention was held in Mauritius from July 19 to 23, 2016. In the convention, students Ather Yeasir Fahim (team leader), Shahjahan Khandakar with the case coordinator Prof Abu Naser Mohammed Istiaque and case facilitator Prof Morsed Hasan Khan from the Marketing department of Faculty of Business Studies of Dhaka University (DU) represented Bangladesh after becoming the national champion. The national competition was held in the DU Senate Bhaban where 56 teams from different universities competed.
There were 22 teams from Mauritius and 66 teams and 34 dignitaries lecturers and resource persons from many countries around the world including India, Nepal, Australia, South Africa, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, UK and USA. After the rigorous competition, the DU team was selected for the final round. 
In the final round, DU team became champion and awarded by Don Dewar award. Chief Minister Mahipala Herath, Education and Technology minister of Sri Lanka Prabath Bhanu Munipriya were the chief and special guests of the convention respectively. 
They handed over the crests and the medals to the winners. The convention promotes Students' Quality Control Circle (SQCC) which is a part of Total Quality Management (TQM). This convention also strongly underlined the need to empower the students so that they can develop analytical skills and exhibit great team work. 

Universities pay tribute to Bangabandhu
Milestone College observed the day with due respect and solemnity. A special memorial discussion was held on Milestone College Campus.  Internationally renowned economist and founder and advisor of Uttar Bangla University College Professor Mozammel Haq was the chief guest. 
Founder and advisor of Milestone College Colonel Nurun Nabi (retd), Principal of Milestone College Md Shahidul Islam, Administrative principal Lt Colonel M Kamaluddin Bhuiyan (retd) were present at the programme.
Gono Bishwabidyalay (GB) organised a discussion on its own campus yesterday. Acting Vice-Chancellor Md Delwar Hossain presided over the programme.
Dean, Faculty of Arts nad Social Sciences M Nazrul Islam, dean, Faculty of Physical and Mathematical Sciences Hasin Anupama Azhari, Principal of Gonoshasthaya Samajvittik Medical College Prof Laila Parveen Banu, spoke on the occasion among others. A milad mahfil was organized for seeking eternal peace of Bangabandhu and his family members who killed on the same day in 1975.
