Four activists of Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir, a student organisation of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, were arrested with four crude bombs, two sharp weapons and huge amount of anti-government leaflets from a residence in Bashugaon area of Gazipur city on Sunday.
They were placed before a press conference held at Gazipur police lines at around 8.30 pm on Sunday.
The Shibir activists were identified as Mohammed Shahidul Islam, 23, in Kurigram district, Ali, 21, in Natore district, Mohammed Zahid Hossain, 24, in Mymensingh and Mohammed Zahidul Islam, 25, in Jamalpur.
Superintendent of Gazipur police Mohammed Harun Or Rashid said in the press conference that on a secret information, police conducted a raid in a residence in the area and held them. Later, police recovered huge amount of anti-government leaflets, four crude bombs, Jihadi books and two sharp weapons from their room. SP Harun also said that the Shibir activists were staying at the house after rented it and planned to create violence in the area.
