Shamsur Rahman’s 10th death anniv today

The 10th death anniversary of one of the major poets of modern Bengali poetry Shamsur Rahman will be observed today in a befitting manner. 

Different socio-cultural organisations have drawn up different programmes to mark the day.
BSS adds: The programmes include placing wreaths at the poet's grave at Banani graveyard, holding discussion meetings and recitation and musical functions.
A press release of Jatiya Kabita Parishad today said Jatiya Kabita Parishad, Kabi Shamsur Rahman Smriti Parishad and Kabi Shamsur Rahman Foundation have jointly organized a number of programmes marking the poet's 10th death anniversary.
International Connection of Literature & Culture (ICLC) has chalked out elaborate programmes featuring discussion, songs and poetry recitation, to pay tribute to the poet today at 3pm at the seminar hall of Public Library in the capital’s Shahbag area.  General Secretary of ICLC Masud Pathik said, “Besides remembering poet Shamsur Rahman in the programme, ICLC will honour veteran poet Nirmolendu Goon for his immense contribution to the Bangla literature and receiving Swadhinata Padak.”  
In the programme, artistes will recite poems dedication to Shamsur Rahman. Besides, band dal Chashar Paal will also perform songs at the programme.  Science and technology Minister Yeafesh Osman will attend the programme.
