Awami League presidium member and Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim yesterday congratulated BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia for not cutting cake on the National Mourning Day in the name of observance of her false birthday, reports BSS.
"Good sense has prevailed upon you at long last as you didn't cut cake on the National Mourning Day in celebration of your so-called birthday. I must thank you for this," he said pointing at Begum Zia. Nasim said this while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion at the auditorium of the National Institute of Neurosciences and Hospital (NINS) in the capital . The NINS unit of Swadhinata Chikitshak Parishad organised the discussion marking the National Mourning Day commemorating the 41st anniversary of martyrdom of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Pointing at Begum Khaleda Zia, Nasim said, "Why don't you say in clear cut terms the reason behind the halt in cutting cake on August 15? What sorts of lame reasons you have been conveying stating that you have stopped cutting cake on the day for floods. Speak the truth openly that you have taken the action as a mark of respect to Bangabandhu and to the National Mourning Day. People will hail you if you speak the truth."
