A seminar on dissemination of research findings of a Knowledge Attitude and Practice (KAP) Survey, conducted in Barisal Division, was held recently at Bengal Inn Gulshan -1 in the capital.
This Survey was part of a project titled “Building Gender Equitable Eye Health Systems in Barisal Division” which is implemented by The Fred Hollows Foundation and funded by ‘Seeing is Believing’ (SiB) - Standard Chartered Bank’s flagship community investment program which provides funding to address avoidable blindness and promote quality eye care services.
Dr. Shawkat Ara Shakoor, Deputy Program Manager, National Institute of Ophthalmology & Hospital (NIO&H); Mr. Sajid Kabir,
Senior Manager, Corporate Affairs, Standard Chartered Bank; Dr Zareen Khair, Country Manager, The Fred
Hollows Foundation, Bangladesh; Dr Binoy Krishna Biswas, Divisional Health Director of Barisal, ophthalmologists from Sher-e-Bangla Medical College and Hospital and other public hospitals of Barisal, private
sector partner representatives and other International Non-Governmental Organizations were present at the seminar. Recommendations were
provided on how to address gender
barriers during this four-year project so that more women can uptake quality eye care services in Barisal Division.
