FARIDPUR: Faridpur district Shilpakala Academy has taken up a project to recover the lost folk music and its related culture of the greater Faridpur district, reports BSS.
The project titled ‘Gao Geramer Sur’ was formally inaugurated on Saturday in a meeting held at the conference hall of Deputy Commissioner, Faridpur. Additional Deputy Commissioner (Gen) Dr ANM Abdus Sabur inaugurated the project.
The inaugural meeting was attended by the ad-hoc committee members, cultural officer of Shilpakala Academy, bauls and a large number folk singers.
The cultural officer submitted a list of 1,130 lost folk songs of greater Faridpur.
It was decided at the meeting that after collection of the lost songs and music those will be compiled and a group of researchers will scrutinise those compiled songs. The researchers will verify and scrutinise the authenticity of the collection.
After final securitisation of the songs those will be published in the form of a folk song book.
In the meeting a budget of about Taka 2.67 lakh was also approved for the purpose.
