The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) decided to increase the match fee of the country’s prime first class tournament Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL).
The BCB has decided to increase 20 percent which meant the players, playing in the BCL, now will get Tk. 50,000 instead of Tk. 40,000 for per match.
The fifth version of the BCL is set to kick-off from September 20 with four zonal teams—Walton central Zone, Islami Bank East Zone, Prime Bank South Zone and BCB North Zone. The name of the team will also be changed in request of the franchisees who owned the team. The team thereby will be named –Walton Cricket Team, Islami Bank Cricket Club/team, Prime Bank Cricket Team and BCB Cricket Team.
Even though the match fee will be increased, the championship money and prize money will remain unchanged. The BCB though selected BKSP and Fatullah as the venue for the BCL matches, head coach Chandika Hathurusingha wanted the matches to be held in Dhaka and Chittagong, the two venues which will host the Bangladesh-England series.
Cricket Operations chairman Akram Khan said, they would try to change the venue after a discussion with grounds committee.
“Since BCL is the prime first class tournament of the country, we want it to be held in the Test venues. The coach also wants the matches to be held in Dhaka and Chittagong. We’ll discuss with the grounds committee to shift the venues,” Akram said.
The national players however will take part in the first two rounds of the BCL, Akram added.
