Mohammed Ibrahim struck twice as Chittagong Abahani Limited showed their real weight with thrashing Uttar Baridhara by 6-1 in the Jb Bangladesh Premier League football at the Rafique Uddin Bhuyian Stadium in Mymensingh yesterday.
Jahid Hossain broke the deadlock inside 34 seconds off the kick off and on fifth minute Kahlekuzzaman Sobuj marked the target with a long range strike to equalize the margin for Baridhara. but the title aspirants scored five more goals more with Ibrahim scoring twice and Leonel Preux, Shakil Ahmed and Raihan Hassan added one each lately.
The match between the title contenders and the promoted Uttar Baridhara got the pace right from the first whistle when two goals were scored inside five minutes from each side.
Jahid Hossain scored the quickest goal in the ongoing JB Bangladesh Premier League when the national team’s forward took a trouble free header from close distance on a Sohel Rana floating cross on 34th second.
But the lowly Baridhara, who made the biggest upset till now of the league with a solitary goal win in their opener against Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra at MA Aziz Stadium Chittagong, made huge threat on Ctg Abahani with equalising the margin on fifth minute when a stunning long range angular shot went into top corner of the far post.
After the dramatic equalizer, the Port City outfit became more aggressive to regain the command and doubled the tally on 26th minute through Leonel Preux who made a clinical finish of a Tarque Al Janabi and Mamunul combination following a misfire from Jahid three minutes before.
Ibrahim opened his account scoring the third goal for Ctg Abahani with closely sending a Jahid cross, when the forward availed a gifted ball after defender Khalekuzzaman failed to control a pass on 40th minute.
