RAJSHAHI: Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) has decided to intensify the activities of community policing to prevent crimes in the society and maintain law and order effectively, reports BSS.
“Community policing is very important for resolving social problems and combating crimes,” said RMP Commissioner Shafiqul Islam. He was addressing a view-sharing meeting with presidents and general secretaries of community policing forums at police line conference hall here yesterday as the chief guest. He said community policing will be activated in 35 beats in all four police station areas and at least three police officers will monitor and oversee each of the beats.
The RMP Chief observed that united efforts of police and local people based on mutual trust and confidence can curb anti-social activities in the society.
He put emphasis on boosting relationship between police and people and exploring the opportunities of community policing for strengthening law and order in the society.
He said adding community based policing had been introduced in the metropolis with a noble view, their main work is to identify the source of crimes in the society and help police forces to prevent crimes and solve problems. Community based policing is highly practiced in develop countries across the world.
