Laying stress on the need for duly following the traffic rules, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Md Asaduzzaman Mia urged all to use the foot over bridges and underpasses instead of risking lives while crossing roads, reports UNB.
“We have to build a culture of obeying the laws and regulations. People do not violate red signals in other countries of the world,” said the DMP commissioner while handing over scooters to the 22 newly-appointed female traffic sergeants at the DMP Headquarters.
“The appointment of the female traffic sergeants has added a new dimension to the police department and it is an epoch-making change towards the country’s women empowerment, which will inspire other women to come forward,” said Asaduzzaman Miah.
He also hoped that the appointment will bring further qualitative change in the traffic sector as the female police members will perform their duties with utmost sincerity.
“To make their movement easier, they have been provided with the vehicles,” added the DMP chief.
