Tea garden workers demand due salaries

The employees and workers of Baikunthipur tea garden in Habiganj district yesterday staged a demonstration for not getting their due salaries and allowances for four months.
They said at least 415 workers and eight staff of the tea garden in Madhabpur upazila of the district are facing financial hardship for not getting their outstanding salaries, ration and medical services due to non-payment of their salaries and allowances.
They also alleged that manager and two other officials of the tea garden remain missing for four days but the authority is running the factory and not considering the issues of the workers.
The workers yesterday held a sit-in programme at the Baikunthipur tea garden to realise their demand.
They said they would wage a bigger movement if the authority does not respond their demand.
