Seminar on militancy, terrorism held at JnU
A seminar titled ‘Roles of Islam in Preventing Militancy and Terrorism: context BD’ was held at the central auditorium of Jagannath University (JnU) on Thursday, says a press release. JnU Islamic Studies Department and Haqqani Anjuman Bangladesh jointly organised the seminar at 11:00am with its Department Chairperson Prof Dr Abdul Wadud in the chair. JnU Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof Mijanur Rahman spoke, among others, as Chief Guest at the seminar. JnU Islamic Studies Department Assistant Prof Md Ibrahim Khalil presented a key-note paper on the seminar conducted by its Department Lecturer Md Rezaul Hossain.
Workshop on networking and ICT held at DIU
A workshop titled ‘Initiatives to make Networking and ICT more attractive to students’ under the DIU Cisco Networking Academy and Silicon Valley Community Foundation grant project was held at DIU recently, says a press release. About 50 students of EEE department attended the workshop. Md Nadir Bin Ali, LMC & Deputy Director (IT) of Daffodil International University conducted the workshop. The workshop objective of the workshop was to increase awareness about networking and ICT career for students. Daffodil International University with the help of Cisco Networking Academy through this project, has taken an initiative to train up a large number of students and professionals from some selected areas of ICT and networking for a better and more effective career.
Improving efficiency of teachers stressed
Speakers at a training programme yesterday underscored the need for improving professional efficiency of teachers to convert the students into as skilled manpower. They called upon the teachers to provide moral education to students and remain alert so that they are not misguided towards militancy and terrorism. Combined Effort to Improve Quality Education, a platform of heads of different educational institutions in Dhaka, organized the programme at Lalmatia Girls College in the capital. The initiative has been taken in 2008 in a bid to improving the quality of education. Additional secretary (College) Dr Mollah Jalal Uddin attended the training programme as the chief guest while principal of Motijheel Ideal School and College Dr Shan Ara Begum and vice chancellor of Notre Dame University Prof Fr. Benjamin Costa as special guests. Principal of Lalmatia Girls College Md Rafiqul Islam presided over the programme. Dr. Satyabrata Roy, Prof Noorjahan Begum, Dr Md Iqbal Hossain, Abdul Momin Musabbir and Malisa Kundu imparted training on different issues. Later, certificates were distributed among the participants.
