Chittagong: Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) in a drive rescued two schoolgirls, who were abducted by miscreants from Brahmanbaria district, from Ambagan area under Khulshi thana in the city on Thursday night, reports UNB.
The rescued girls were Fatema Akhter, 14, and Soma Devnath, residents of Kulikundo village of Nasirnagar upazila and students of Nasir Nagar Government High School.
Chandan Devnath, assistant director of Rab-7, said a gang of miscreants abducted them from the village on July 27 while they were going to school.
Later Fatema’s father filed a general diary with Nasirnagar Police Station. Tipped off, a team of Rab conducted drive in the area and rescued them at night.
Sensing the presence of the Rab members, the abductors fled away. However, the two girls were handed over to their parents.
