The ferry services on Paturia-Daulatdia route resumed yesterday after six days into disruption. Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) authority suspended the ferry service on the route on Saturday morning as three landing stations of Daulatdia ferry terminal under goalunda upazila in Rajbari district were damaged due to strong current by the river Padma
Besides, ferry service on the Shimulia-Kawrakandi route was running at a small scale due to the inclement weather in the morning, causing immense suffering to the passengers.
Mohiuddin, port officer, Shimulia ghat, said plying of water vessels resumed on the route after a halt from early Wednesday to yesterday morning. Nine ferries, including four ro-ro ferries, were in operation. Over 400 buses and trucks were in wait for being ferried on the route.
The ferry service on the Daulatdia-Paturia route that was suspended due to damage of no 2 and no 4 landing stations at Daulatdia ferry terminal was yet to be restored.
The repair works on the two landing stations were going on, said, Nizam Uddin Pathan, executive engineer of BIWTA, Aricha.
