PM cheers Fizz
before successful surgery in UK

Bangladesh pace sensation Mustafizur Rahman had a successful shoulder surgery in London yesterday, but officials said the bowling sensation will remain off the pitch for at least four months. "The operation was successful and we are now wishing him a quick recovery," Bangladesh Cricket Board’s Jalal Yunus told AFP after the hour-long operation last night. "He will spend the night at the hospital today (Thursday) and will be released in the morning," he added.
Andrew Wallace, a veteran of operating high profile sportsperson including the Indian legend Sachin Tendulkar performed the operation at Bupa Cromwell Hospital in London yesterday evening. Before the operation Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina personally called Mustafizur Rahman to wish him good luck. The Bangladesh Primer Minister talked to Mustafizur Raham through the cell phone of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hassan Papon who later conveyed the news to the local media in England.
“The Premier gave him the courage and told him to be calm,” Papon said. The BCB chief said he came here to accompany Mustafizur so that the young pacer feels comfortable.
“He never went to hospital in his playing life. So I came here to provide him the courage and make him feel good.”
Before the Prime Minister calls him, Bangladesh captain Mashrafe also talked to Mustafizur Rahman who was at home at the time.
“Don’t be scared. Just stay calm,” Mashrafe who had undergone eight operations on his two knees, advised his junior mate over phone.
“He seems confident and talks normally. Mustafizur is not the guy who would be scared at any point,” the skipper said.
