A parliamentary watchdog yesterday recommended taking all-out measures for quick implementation of ‘surface water treatment plant’ project at Mongla Port on priority basis, reports UNB.
The parliamentary standing committee on Shipping Ministry at its 32nd meeting in parliament also suggested the ministry to take necessary steps for procuring all equipment of the ports following the Public Procurement Rules (PPR).
It also sought the ministry to ensure a better coordination between the activities of the customs and different banks for improving the quality of port activities alongside bringing dynamism.
At the meeting, the parliamentary body also discussed Mongla Port’s various persisting problems, and solutions, different devolvement projects and Bangladesh Shipping Corporation’s overall activities.
