Leaders of the Jatiya Mohila Sangstha (JMS) in Panchagarh recently called upon the women community as well as mothers to become aware of their role in taking care of their children to bring up them properly for eliminating militancy and terrorism. According to a report in this newspaper Monday, they made the call at a huge human chain organised by Panchagarh district unit of JMS against militancy and terrorism on the Panchagarh-Dhaka highway.
Women constitute half of the total population of the country and the development of the country greatly depends on them. An ideal mother is the sole custodian of a family and she is mainly responsible for its weal and woe. She acts as the principle guide for the proper upbringing of her children.
The tireless efforts of a conscious mother can help her children become properly educated, enlightened and worthy citizens of the country. The mothers should be more aware about their children in knowing their minds, personal needs and problems and give more times to them like friends in every family. Any kind of lapse on their part may lead to an unfortunate situation. The way terrorism is spreading its tentacles in the country is extremely worrying. After the brutal carnage at the Holey Artisan Bakery and Restaurant at Gulshan, panic has gripped many parents and guardians about the future of their children.
Sometimes, mothers cannot properly take care of their children. Taking advantage of their failures the elements of bigotry may lure their children towards militancy and terrorism. A section of people is misguiding youths and students through misinterpretation of the religion. This is very ominous for the country. The youths are the vital force of the country and they can contribute immensely to the country’s development. But when they are used in sinister activities, the future of the country will be murky, to say the least.
What is needed now is the proper guidance of the youths. Mothers can play a vital role in this regard. There is no denying the fact that women of the country are going ahead defying various limitations confronting them. Their exposure to the different sectors of life, particularly the RMG industry, has opened up a wide avenue for them. It is expected that they will be equally active in fighting militancy. For this they need due patronage and logistic support. Creation of mass awareness is also needed.
