BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia yesterday urged political parties to get united to save the country and its people from the misrule of the current “unelected” government, reports UNB.
“Many top leaders of different political parties are present here. I would like to tell them, let’s sit together and get united to rid the public of the sufferings. We won’t judge who is small and who’s big as we’ll only consider the interests of the country and its people,”
she said.
Khaleda came up with the remarks at an iftar party arranged by 20-party’s component Jatiya Party (Zafar) at Bashundhara International Convention Centre in the city.
The BNP chief urged people to pray to the Almighty Allah in this holy moth of Ramadan so that He saves the country and its people from the grasp of this ‘repressive and corrupt’ regime.
Bikalpa Dhara Bangladesh (BDB) chief and former president AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury, Jatiya Party (Zafar) chairman Kazi Zafar Ahmed, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) president ASM Abdur Rab, Krishak Sramik Janata League joint general secretary Iqbal Siddique, top leaders of the 20-party alliance were, among, others, present.
Criticising the government for what she said importing rotten and uneatable wheat from Brazil, Khaleda said now no one is taking the wheat to consume. “They wanted to give it to army and police, and they’ve refused to accept it. Now whom will you give the wheat? Feed it those Awami League men who are already in good health.”
She said the ruling party men are indulging in massive corruption and inflating their pockets by plundering public money. “Those who are now governing the country are not elected with people’s votes. They have no responsibility to do anything for people. They’ve got their money inflated in Swiss Bank while the country’s people are getting poorer.”
