Man shot dead in capital

The manager of an ice cream manufacturing company was gunned down by miscreants in the city’s Central Road area under Kalabagan police station on early yesterday, reports UNB.
The victim was identified as Obaidul Haque, 35, manager of Kwality Ice Cream Company, a sister concern of Sanowara Group. He had been residing at a flat of 57 Circular Road under Kalabagan police station.
He was a nephew of former Awami League MP of Chittagong Nurul Islam BSC.
Sub-Inspector Bijoy Devnath, duty officer of Kalabagan police station, said Obaidul was returning to his residence by a rickshaw early yesterday. Suddenly three miscreants in a motorcycle intercepted Obaidul’s rickshaw at Central Road at about 12:40 am and shot at his head, said SI Bijoy quoting witnesses.
The gangsters fled the scene leaving Obaidul in a pool of blood. One Iqbal rushed him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where he died at about 1:30 am.
