BSMMU budget announced

Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) yesterday announced a total of Taka 240.62 crore budget for 2015-16 fiscal, with the major share of the amount going for its hospital services and the rests for its academic purposes, reports UNB. BSMMU Treasurer Professor Dr M Zulfiqar Rahman Khan announced the budget at the 58th syndicate meeting of the country's lone medical university while Vice-chancellor Professor Dr Quamrul Hasan Khan presided over the meeting at Dr Milton Hall of the campus.
According to a BSMMU statement out of the total budget, Taka 174.37 crore was allocated for Bangabandhu Sheikh Mijub Medical University's hospital while Taka 66.25 crore for the university.
The amount of this year's budget is Taka 48.62 crore higher than that of the previous fiscal when the amount was Taka 192 crore. The statement said for the first time in the history of the country's lone medical university, a separate development budget was declared proposing various development projects of different departments of the state-owned university.
