Nasim rejects Khaledas allegation

BSS

Awami League Presidium Member and Health Minister Mohammad Nasim yesterday rejected Begum Khaleda Zia’s allegation that the government has detained 50 thousand innocent BNP leaders and workers, reports BSS.
“BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia’s allegation is fictitious,” he said speaking at a discussion meeting organized by Bangladesh Samajtantrik Dal (BSD) on the proposed national budget at Jatiya Grantha Kendra auditorium in the city.
Mohammad Nasim said the detained BNP men have been arrested in criminal cases. So, the allegation of detaining 50 thousand innocent leaders and activists is fictitious, he added.
Presided over by BSD Convener Rezaul Rashid Khan, the meeting was also addressed by Bangladesher Workers Party President Rashed Khan Menon, Samyabadi Dal Secretary Dilip Barua, Communist Kendra Convener Wazedul Islam, Ganotantri Party General Secretary Shahadat Hossain, among others.
“We know that many BNP leaders have been detained. We hope they will get release facing the legal procedure. But those arrested on grievous criminal charges will get no concession,” Nasim said. He said Khaleda Zia is responsible for this situation of the BNP leaders and activists as they carried out arson attacks at her directives.
The AL leader said the BNP is getting closer with Jamaat-e-Islami when all are suggesting them to abandon that party.
There will be no existence of BNP in the country, if the party cannot abandon Jamaat-e-Islami, he added.
Rashed Khan Menon said the BNP would have to abandon Jamaat-e-Islami, if they want to make an understanding with the government.
Though the Jamaat is currently maintaining silence, different banned militant outfits are trying to carry out militant activities across the country, he added.
Meanwhile, Nasim yesterday urged the flood victims in Cox's Bazar and Bandarban districts not to be worried, saying that the government is taking adequate measures to protect them, reports UNB.
The minister came up with the call while making a statement on section 300 of the rules of procedure in Parliament following the death of 10 people in landslides and flashfloods triggered by torrential monsoon rain in the two districts.
He said the Health Ministry has taken necessary measures to ensure medicare facilities for the flood victims.
