After deferring the publishing of results for the admission at higher secondary level for the third time, the authorities have said that the results may be published today.
Nearly 12 lakh admission seekers to the higher secondary level, under 10 education boards in the country, remain uncertain about their results as the authorities preparing the results have faced some serious technical glitches. The results were originally scheduled to be published on Thursday night.
Chairman of board of intermediate and secondary education, Dhaka, Abu Bakkar Siddique told The Independent that the results are likely to be published today, if the technical problems can be sorted out.
“Two teams of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) are working relentlessly to solve the problem. We hope it will be resolved at the earliest possible time. If it is possible, we will publish the results tonight or tomorrow,” he said.
Whenever the result will be published, the admission procedure will also begin, he added.
“The results were scheduled to be published on Saturday morning. But nothing can be said with certainty right now. We are trying,” Abu Bakkar also said.
According to the schedule of the boards, the results were slated to be published online at 11:30 pm on Thursday, but it was delayed due to some technical problem. Later, it was announced that the results will be published at 11:30pm on Friday. But there was no result and it was mentioned that the result will be made available at 8:30am on Saturday. But the board authorities failed to keep even that timetable.
The board sources said that a major technical fault has been identified. As a result, the publishing of the results are being delayed, they said.
Meanwhile, admission seekers and their guardians are passing days in anxiety as they are not getting results despite several schedules for results were announced by the education boards.
Some guardians expressed their frustration as the electronic system is yet to publish the result on due time. Some of them also feared that the results may even get manipulated or altered due to the glitch in the system.
Farid Uddin, a guardian, said, “We are eagerly waiting for the results to be published, but we came to know that there are technical problems. We are now in dark.”
Asked how he sees the new system, Farid Uddin said, “If the results were published systematically on time, we would not have any doubts about the new system. But the system has failed to publish the results on time, which creates suspicion whether the result will get altered or manipulated.”
Another guardian, Nurjahan Begum said, “The new system may have some problem in the beginning. But if it provides better solution, we shall welcome it. We are a bit concerned as we don’t know when the results will be published.”
On the board website www.xiclassadmission.gov.bd, it said, “The process for publishing results for the admission seekers is underway. The publication of results will be informed soon.”
A total of 11.56 lakh students across the country applied for admission at higher secondary level through an online system for the first time, and also through mobile SMS. The government introduced the online admission system this year in a bid to bring transparency and accountability in admission to colleges and to avoid any corruption.
