The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) wants Mustafizur Rahman to undergo operation as early as possible after it is all but confirmed that the fast bowler has no other way to heal the problems fully apart from an operation.
The second surgeon Lennard Funk whom Mustafizur Rahman met a couple of days ago, also suggested to operate the injured shoulder, like Tony Kocchar. The BCB wanted Funk to operate him but the Manchester based surgeon has no time available before August 22. The board however now made an appointment with another surgeon Andrew Wallace whom Mustafizur met yesterday. If he could make his operation before August 22, then he would put the knife, said BCB president Nazmul Hassan Papon.
“Since Funk couldn’t make his operation before August 22, we want Mustafizur to go for another evaluation to Andrew Wallace. If he could make it before August 22, then he will put the knife on his shoulder,” he told the reporters.
Papon also said they have opened another window if Wallace couldn’t give Mustafizur the time.
“In that case, he will undergo operation table in Australia. We want the operation to happen within a shortest possible time. If he undergoes operation in Australia, in that case he will return to Bangladesh before going there. Operation would take just half an hour while he would have to stay in hospital for six hours just.”
