BCB to form own security unit soon

Fast bowling coach to arrive this month
Sports Reporter

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) initiated a project to form a security team of their own in a bid to strengthen its security since it regularly arranges International series here.
They have already started recruitment process after their proposal to government to form a security team is accepted. The board will also take the support from government in case of covering the larger area but they at least want to be self-sufficient in case of immediate support if any unwanted situation arises.
In the wake of the recent terror attack in Bangladesh, it is imperative, said the BCB chief Nazmul Hassan Papon.
“We have already decided to form a security contingent under the BCB and it has already started its work. We’re forming a security team from the BCB. The proposal has been accepted. The recruitment has also been started. So, the process has been initiated,” Papon said.
“ We must need the help of the government to cover the biggest areas of the game. But we can give immediate support from us if needed.”
Due to security reason, Australia pulled out of Bangladesh tour in the last year and the recent terror attack in Gulshan on July 1, left the England’s series in Bangladesh in uncertain position.
The BCB president said that the England Cricket Board (BCB) will send a security team in mid-August to check out the overall security situation of the country.
However in his long press conference the board president also discussed other issues.
Players payment issue
The BCB boss describes the issue of the delay as unfortunate, stating he has given directives to clear the DPL players’ payment from the board immediately.
“It’s very unfortunate. Some clubs didn’t clear the players’ payment despite being issued a deadline. We should clear the payment without any delay. We gave them a deadline to clear the payment. But the clubs didn’t do it. So, we should clear the payment. The board will take the legal action against the clubs or not they will fix it later. Players should not be sufferers,” he said, adding “We’ve introduced the system, where the board has taken all the responsibilities. So, we don’t see any reason to make delay.”
Bowling coach
The BCB has already selected the pace bowling coach for Bangladesh albeit Papon didn’t want to reveal the name. He said the bowling coach would arrive in Bangladesh in this month. .
“We have finalized the name after picking the best candidate. Because of some obligations, we could not announce his name at this moment,” Papon said.
“Hopefully he’ll come here in this month. He’ll arrive here in any day of the last week of this month. He is already working for a team. After finishing his stint, he’ll announce his position. He requested us not to announce his name.”
After Aaqib Javed turned down the offer to take the full time coaching role, it is learnt BCB approached former Sri Lanka fast bowler Chaminda Vaas.
Taskin and Sunny issue
The BCB will take the help of Aaqib Javed to assess the current action Taskin Ahmed and Arafat Sunny.
“We’ve formed a team, who assess their bowling action. The team’s response is more in favour of Taskin and Sunny. They think the duo is almost ready for the test. But we’ve equipments that are not 3D. So, the accurate judgment is not possible. We sat with our board members and decided that as Aaqib Javed is available we can take his assessment what he thinks about them,” Papon said.
Spin bowling consultant
The president said that they would bring former Indian spinner Venkatapathy Raju as spin consultant after Aaqib Javed for HP programme.
“ We’ve enormous problem in spin. Our major strength was in spin. But we didn’t find good spinner. We’ll be benefited if Raju comes. Hopefully he will arrive in this month,” the Board chief said.
He also said that they’ve decided to bring Aaqib Javed again at the fag end of the HP programme after they got very positive feedback from the players regarding him.
