FARIDPUR: Police met citizens on Tuesday at a view-exchange meeting on collection of information about house owners and tenants of the district at the local police line, reports BSS.
The meeting was chaired by Police Super Md. Jamil Hassan while Faridpur Sadar upazila chairman Khondoker Mohtesham Hossain Babor was the chief guest.
At the very outset of the meeting SP Jamil Hassan explained the necessity of creating a data bank of the citizens in view of the recent militant activities and terrorism in the capital. He said the data bank would help enhancing vigilance on the citizens to curb acts of militancy.
SP Jamil said Faridpur police will supply a form to be filled in by the house owners and tenants which will be preserved by the law enforcers for the safety of the citizens. The sole objective of the government is to take necessary measures so that the curse of militancy cannot raise their heads any more.
He sought the cooperation of the citizens, members of the civil society and people from all strata to help Faridpur Police in this regard. He also announced that Faridpur Pourashava area will be divided into 18 sections for bit policing headed by councilors and responsible citizens of the section.
The Chief guest Khondoker Mohtesham Hossain Babor in his speech described this district as an abode of peace and urged all to maintain the healthy atmosphere.
He urged upon the elected ward councilors of Pourashava and Awami League leaders to be alert against militancy and terrorism. He also requested the citizens to cooperate with the police for collecting information. Kh. Babor said that ‘We love Faridpur’ should be a branding for this district.
Additional District Magistrate Eradul Haque stressed the need for a data bank at this time of juncture when the nation is united to resist militancy and terrorism.
The meeting was also addressed by BSS Correspondent Prof. Md. Shahjahan and district Awami League president Advocate Subal Chandra Saha.
The function was conducted by Additional Police Super Md. Kamruzzaman Russel. A cross section of citizens attended the meeting.
