A court on Tuesday sentenced a man to two years rigorous imprisonment and fined Tk 20000 on corruption charges.
After examining witnesses and relevant papers District Special Judge Nitaichandra Shaha found the convict identified as Khalilur Rahman, former mayor of Bagerpara municipality and an inhabitant of Dohakula village in Bagerpara, guilty and pronounced the verdict.
According to the prosecution, Khalilur Rahman, then Bagerpara municipality mayor, constructed his office illegally at Dohakula. One Moshiur Rahman filed a case with the district session judge court on 2012 in this connection.
