Rangamati: Bangalee settlers’ organisations in the Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) have announced a dawn-to-dusk hartal for August 10 in three hill districts demanding that the government scraps the draft Chittagong Hill Tracts Land Dispute Resolution(Amendment) Act 2016’, reports UNB.The hartal will be enforced jointly by five organisations: Parbatya Nagarik Parishad, Parbatya Bangalee Chhatra Parishad, Parbatya Chattagram Samaodhikar Andolan, Parbatya Gana Parishad and Parbatya Bangalee Chhatra Oikya Parishad. The programme was announced through a joint statement of the five organisations yesteday.
The statement said the draft ‘Chittagong Hill Tracts Land Dispute Resolution Commission (Amendment) Act 2016’, will turn into a ‘black law’ as no appeal can be filed against the decision of the commission. The Commission also does not include any representative of the Bangalee community in the CHT, it added.
