After seizing 2000 liters of low quality naphtha from Babuganj in Shariatpur recently, police is trying to investigate the link between Mostakim Enterprise, a Shariatpur based oil dealer, and Chittagong based Super Petrochemical Ltd.
Naphtha is intermediate hydrocarbon liquid stream derived from the refining of crude oil. It is the by product of crude oil in the refineries. The Babuganj police seized the naphtha from Mostakim Enterprise who informed that they have bought the naphtha from Super Petrochemicals Ltd.
Officer-in-Charge of Babuganj Police Station Mohammd Abdus Samad told The Independent that they have seized the naphtha from local pack dealer Mostakim Enterprise as it bought the naphtha and tried to sell the low quality naphtha locally. “If any oil and oil based product like naphtha is bought from any other refineries than Padma, Meghna and Jamuna, then it is illegal and Mostakim did an illegal work by buying naphtha from Super Petrochemical Ltd.”
Samad said that they are now investigating into the issue and are trying to find out whether the Chittagong based Super Petrochemical is involved with the trade or not.
