Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid yesterday said the present government has taken the challenge of ensuring quality education for the new generation, reports BSS.
“Government is working to give knowledge and technology- based world-standard education in line with morality as well as the spirit of 1971 Liberation War,” he said while speaking at a discussion at CIRDAP auditorium in the capital.
The minister added: “The government is also imparting training gradually for the teachers in this connection.”
‘Young Change Makers Coalition in Bangladesh (YCMC)’, a youth platform of 12 national and international organisations working with education, child marriage, reproductive health and gender iniquity, organised the discussion on “Role of Youths for Positive Social Change” with SM Saikat in the chair.
“Be practical and informative . . . Criticize our works being well-informed,” Nahid told the leaders of YCMC referring to different successful steps of the government under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
About the inclusion of adolescent and reproductive education in the academic curriculum, he said he and his government had to face bitter criticism earlier but subsequently the whole country is benefited.
Taking part in the discussion, the YCMC leaders vowed to provide all-out cooperation to the government.
Youth and Sports Secretary Kazi Akhter Uddin Ahmed, Women and Children Affairs Secretary Nasima Begum and additional secretary of Health and Family Affairs Ministry Suvash Chandra Sarkar, among others, spoke on the occasion.
