14 Shibir men held in capital
Police in a block raid arrested 14 leaders and activists of Islami Chhatra Shibir from Madhubagh area in the capital early Wednesday, as part of the government’s crackdown against militancy.
Identities of the arrestees could not be known immediately. Officer-in-charge of Hazaribagh Police Station Alimuzzaman said a team of police arrested the 14 Shibir men conducting a block raid in the area from 9pm on Tuesday to 2:30am on Wednesday. The law enforcers also recovered huge jihadi (religious uprising) books and leaflets from their possession.

JCD leader held in Sylhet
Police arrested a former organising secretary of the city unit of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) from Chowkidekhi area of the city early Wednesday.
The arrestee was identified as Sahed Ahmad Chamon. Anwar Hossain, officer-in-charge of Bimanbandar Police Station, said on secret information, a team of police launched a drive in the area and arrested Chamon at about 12:30am. Chamon was accused in two cases, the OC added.

Three held with yaba, heroin
Detectives arrested three young men along with 1,582 pieces of Yaba tablet and 340 packs of heroin from Bejhbari village in South Surma upazila on Tuesday.
The arrestees were identified as Sohag, 28, Foyez,27, and Anwar Hossain,30. Sources at the Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SMP) said tipped off, a team of the Detective Branch (DB) of police, led jointly by its additional deputy commissioner Iqbal Hossain and assistant superintendent of police Rafiqul Islam, conducted a raid on the house of one Mukter Miah in the area and arrested the trio at about 2:00pm.

Two youths found dead
Police recovered the two bodies of two youths from Turag River at Birulia area under Savar upazila yesterday after 18 hours of their missing on Tuesday afternoon.
The victims were identified as Mizanur Rahman Mizan, 28, son of Waliullah of Barinda area in Gazipur city and Minhaj Mollah, 17, son of Kudrot Ali of same area.  The deceased Mizanur Rahman was a shopkeeper  and Minhaj was a decorator shop owner in the area.  Sub-inspector of Birolia police out post under Savar police station Ashraf Miah said Minhaj drowned in the water of Turag River while he was bathing. Mizanur Rahman, a friend of Minhaj jumped in the river to rescue Minhaj, but he was also drowned and both were remained missing under water as there were a huge current  in the river. On information, a rescue team of fire service rushed to the spot and recovered their bodies.
