Satkhira: Workers of Sundarban Textile Mills staged a demonstration in front of the mill on Monday morning demanding a wage hike, reports UNB.
Around 300 workers of the mills took position in front of the main gate of the mill in the morning and staged demonstration on Khulna-Satkhira highway.
The protesting workers said that they had been raising the demand to increase their daily wage to Tk 300 from Tk 120 over one year.
‘There is no record of such a low wage in the country. We get around Tk 2500-Tk3000 per month. It is very tough for us to bear the expenses of our families with this low income,” said workers’ leader Rexona.
The workers also threatened for an indefinite strike if their demands are not met.
