Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has asked her cabinet colleagues to make sure that there would not be any anomalies in the distribution of relief materials among the flood victims.
The premier has told us to ensure that the flood-affected people, especially the children and the senior citizens, are getting their due share of relief materials, a cabinet minister told The Independent quoting the prime minister as saying.
The premier came up with the directive during the meeting of the cabinet held at the secretariat yesterday.
“It appears that the floods may linger for some more days and you (ministers) have to ensure that the relief reaches the flood victims properly and they don’t suffer,” the minister further quoted the premier.
At the meeting, the food minister informed the premier that the stock of food grains was enough at the government warehouses and that the flood-hit people will get required relief.Sheikh Hasina also directed the ministers concerned to take necessary measures for the flood victims until the floods are over. According to the government statistics, about 15 lakh people in 10 districts have been affected by floods.
