China is looking for further strengthening its ‘relations and friendship’ with Bangladesh and discussed ways to make the environment more suitable for stronger bilateral relations.
Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Ma Mingqiang said this on yesterday afternoon after his hour-long meeting with Foreign Secretary M Shahidul Haque at the Foreign Ministry.
“We talked about our friendship and how to further strengthen and improve our relationship, and how to make the atmosphere more suitable for strengthening bilateral relations,” the Ambassador told UNB.
Asked about Chinese President Xi Jinping’s Bangladesh visit, he said things are under discussion. Ambassador Ma, however, said one of their Vice Ministers is coming Dhaka next month but did not mention his name.
“Visits take place almost at various levels regularly. People-to-people contacts between the two countries are very good,” said the diplomat.
