A court here on Monday sent Ruma Hossain, wife of Narayanganj seven-murder prime accused Nur Hossain, to Dhaka Central Jail in Keraniganj, in a graft case, reports UNB.
Metropolitan Magistrate Abu Sayeed passed the order when Md Zulfiker Ali, deputy director of the Anti Corruption Commission, produced Ruma before the court.
The court also rejected the bail petition filed by her lawyer.
A team of the national graft watchdog, led by Zulfiker, arrested Ruma from her house at Simrail in Siddhirganj upazila of Narayanganj district in the morning. Earlier in the day, Zulfiker filed two cases with Ramna Police Station in Dhaka city under the Anti Corruption Commission Act 2004 against Nur Hossain and Ruma for allegedly acquiring illegal wealth.
According to the first information reports (FIRs), Ruma submitted her own and Nur Hossain’s wealth statements to the Commission on December 8, 2015 as per the ACC directives. After examining her statement, the ACC’s found that she amassed wealth worth 8.66 crore illegally.
