A ‘militant’ was arrested from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital while trying to flee country on Sunday night.
He was identified as Mahbub Ekbal Munna, son of late Abdul Basir, a resident of Sylhet city’s Khasdobir area. He was the student of 3rd year at Law department at Leading University in the city.
Police said immigration police arrested Munna from Shahjalal Airport while trying to fly Malaysia by a flight on Sunday night. Later he was brought back to Sylhet Kotwali police station said, Shuhel Ahmed, officer in charge of the station.
He was produced before court yesterday afternoon, said the OC. Earlier Munna was arrested in 2011during distribute a banned leaflet paper in front of city’s Modonmohon College. Now he is in bail. He was absent from his university from April, 2015. With Munna police so far arrested two other students named Mehedy Hasan Omi and Mashudur Karim from this university in connection with militant activities. On the other hand, security measure has been beefed up at Osmani International Airport in Sylhet yesterday following the recent militant attacks across the country.
