Green activists demand safe baby food

UNB

Green activists urged the government to take necessary steps for ensuring safe baby food to build a healthy future generation as food adulteration is a growing threat to human health in the country, reports UNB.
They came with the demand at a human chain programme jointly organised by Poribesh Bachao Andolon (Poba) and Poribesh Unnayan Society in front of Fine Arts Institute of Dhaka University.
The environmentalists said adulteration continues in almost all food items including baby food, but the authorities concerned are reluctant to ensure safe food. Whereas the Indian government banned a brand of nodules, Bangladesh gave clearance to continue its marketing.
Poba chairman Abu Naser Khan, its member secretary Lenin Chowdhury, coordinator Atiq Moshed, Poribesh Unnayan Society president Borhan Uddin Ahmed and its coordinator Mokammel Haque Menon, among others, spoke at the programme.
