Minister for Public Administration Ministry Syed Ashraful Islam said that public representatives of local areas, irrespective of their party affiliation, would be included as member of the proposed anti-terror committee in their respective areas to prevent militancy. “The administrative committee known as ‘core committee’ at the district level would be formed without regards to party identity, and public representatives of any political party can be included in the committee,” he told reporters after meeting with deputy commissioners, at the secretariat yesterday. “There is no lack in coordination between the superintendents of police (SP) and the deputy commissioners (DC),” he said. “We advised the field officials to take necessary steps to speed up the field administration with coordination among the officials of the district-level government offices,” he added. The senior minister said the district administration is leading the government’s activities and also creating public awareness, but they are not entitled to perform the work of the law enforcement agencies. On the third day of the DCs’ conference, ministers and secretaries of the civil aviation ministry and the jute and textile ministry held sessions with the DCs. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the conference at her office on July 26. DCs conference is set to end today.
