RANGPUR: Three persons, including two farm labourers and a college student, were killed and two others injured by lightning amid inclement weather in Rangpur and Lalmonirhat districts yesterday, police sources said, reports BSS. In Rangpur, two farm labourers were killed and two others injured in village Arizpur under Pirganj upazila when thunderbolt struck them while working in a nearby crop field at 9 am today. The deceased were identified as Abdur Razzaque, 28, son of Motiar Rahman and Suman Ahmed, 35, son of Tofazzal Hossain of the same village. Besides, farm labourers Tazul Islam, 40, son of Komar Uddin and Sekendar Ali, 20, son of Gawher Ali of the village were seriously injured in the incident. “Bodies of the deceased were recovered and handed over to their relatives while the two injured farm-laborers rushed to Pirganj Upazila Health Complex,” Officer-in-Charge of Pirganj Thana Rezaul Karim told BSS. In Lalmonirhat, Nitai Chandra, 19, son of Norendra Nath Roy of village Krishnakishore under Kaliganj upazila was killed by lightning while he was bringing back cattle heads home from the nearby filed this noon amid inclement weather. Nitai was a second year student of Charpahat Technical College of the area. Officer-in-Charge of Kaliganj Thana Sajjad Hossain has confirmed the incident.
